What Are Dental Implants?
Losing your natural teeth can be devastating. Luckily, there is a modern and ultra-realistic alternative to missing teeth, and they’re known as dental implants. Implants are fixed to your jawbone and are completely permanent. They can be used to hold replacement teeth or removable dentures in place while providing support and stability.
Our patients tend to love dental implants because they look and act just like your natural teeth. You can eat your favorite foods, your speech won’t be impaired, and your smile will look whole and complete. They also last indefinitely.
Other advantages include the fact that they’ll never suffer from decay or gum disease, they keep your jawbone from deteriorating (a normal result of lost teeth), and gum recession will be delayed or halted altogether.
Missing teeth can affect your appearance by making your face look sunken in. Implants restore your facial appearance while boosting your confidence in your now-complete, more radiant smile.
What to Expect with the Dental Implants Procedure
The procedure for placing implants requires several office visits over the course of a few months. X-rays will be taken and molds (impressions) might be taken of your teeth and jaws. These methods help to determine how much bone, gum tissue, and spacing Dr. Brusky has to work with within your mouth.
Dr. Brusky will then create a model of your teeth or use a virtual model of your jaw to plan the precise location and angle of implant placement. The implant (which consists of a titanium post) is surgically placed into the jawbone whereby the jawbone will grow around it. After 2-3 months time, healing should be complete. One more mold will be made of the implant’s position, and the restoration will be made by a dental laboratory. The implant will be fitted with the dental restoration like a crown, bridge, or denture, or partial denture.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
Dental implants are realistic and permanent, and comprised of the latest and strongest materials. For that reason, the implant procedure can be costly. However, Dr. Brusky never wants you to forgo life-improving dental implants because of cost. Talk to Dr. Brusky and his compassionate staff at your next dental appointment.
